Sundowner 2024 by Emils Garage

Sundowner 24 Cover

Welcome to one of the most anticipated car events of the year "THE SUNDOWNER" in the magnificent harbour of Hamburg organized by Emil Pourkian aka "Emils Garage". This is my first blog article ever and I have no clue whatsoever about copywriting or writing in general. My goal is to transport the vibes, stories and feelings from any event I go to to my small audience consisting of my cat and my sunglasses (so no one can critisize me).

Starting with a banger of an event for oldtimers and newer cars my first blog post could not have a cooler timing than with the Sundowner that took place in "hafen-city" of Hamburg.

Having a roughly 5 hour drive from Düsseldorf to Hamburg on Friday, shopping at Arket and drinking coffee at Café Noé on Saturday we, my girlfriend and I, went straight ahead to visit the Sundowner Event.

Arriving within a big bulk of supercars and oldtimers we clearly felt displaced in our blue Opel Corsa. Behind, a Ferrari 812 Competizione roaring to get through and right in front of us another expensive car I clearly had no ambitions bumping into whilst driving up a bridge with a stick shifter.

Finally managing to get across the bridge we came to the entrance of the location. There I remembered that I had no drivers ticket and I quickly realized that I could not drive into the location without one. Basically the whole time waiting in line had been unnecessary and we could have just went straight ahead to another parking spot lol...and thats what we then did.

Finally arrived at the destination we stepped right in and spotted a familiar car that surely some of you might know... the Mercedes 190E by the one and only Rasim. I saw it and naturally had to take some pictures of it...

Rasim is a young petrolhead from Ulm, near Stuttgart Germany, whom I met last year at an event called "Heizrmania". He got this very 190e a while back and changed the exterior and interior quite a bit with a modern street culture related livery, designed by Max Salzborn, and various mods like a new exhaust system, front bumper, lip and much more.

If you want a more in depth story about Rasim and his Mercedes please participate in the poll!

Separate Interview with Rasim?

  • Yes of course!

  • No I don't need it

After seeing his car we went further into the heart of the event to potentially meet him. In the heart there were food stands as well as an espresso and cocktail bar. Having spotted a familiar car I photographed at TAPE JAM back in June I went to say hello to the owner which I have not yet spoken to in person. Dawid Gausch is founder and creative of the clothing brand "PTRLSM" and trailered his wine red E30 with beautiful gold, silver BBS wheels all the way from poland to hamburg. It was funny meeting him there after texting him the prior days and purchasing his tickets for the upcoming Onassis X Event.

Whilst having a conversation with Dawid, Rasim found me first and suprised me from behind and said "hallo schöner Mann!". Now the conversation with Dawid was unfortunatley over and I couldn't really say goodbye which was a bummer.

Rasim who came with a whole entourage of people greeted us nicely and we talked a bit about his car and the new livery. As well I congratulated his friend Marcel on his newest acquisition: a Porsche 911 G-Model in wine red. "Meeting new and already familiar people is always cool and really the best about events like these."

After that we strolled around and went to the seaside of the location where we saw the sundowner mobile of Emil. A beautiful Porsche 930 Turbo, known as the widowmaker, in white with RUF magnesium wheels and a big

sundowner sticker on its frunk.

  • Mileage: 82,600 miles.

  • Production Date: October 1988

  • Fuel type: Petrol

  • Horsepower: 300hp

  • Sports exhaust

  • Air conditioning

  • MOMO sports steering wheel

The 930 Turbo is my personal favorite Porsche from it's looks and the history behind and therefor my ultimate dream car. My first time seeing a 930 Turbo was two years ago at the Classic Remise in Düsseldorf where I took one very special photo to me that influenced my style in editing and photographing cars. Back at the event I called Rasim and asked him to put my F.A.T hoodie into his trunk. He came and we went back to his car. He offered us a short ride to the Diablo and it was actually pretty cool sitting in his car and getting photographed by other photographers.

As a photographer myself I am usually not found in a photograph because I am always the one behind the camera.

If you're a photographer surely you can relate

Shoutout to Jesko for capturing this moment!

After arriving at our destined parking spot right next to the red Diablo, Rasim of course had to take a phone call and talk to some people (he clearly is one of the most wanted guys at the event).

After his call we managed to get him to take a picture of us with my Digi cam!!

Shoutout to Rasim for this pic

For the people interested in photography I am using a Canon 90D with a Sigma 18-35mm 1.4 Art lens.

Nevertheless after this photo was taken we went to check out the stand of BMW Niederlassung Hamburg and I snapped some pictures of the cars, (even though some of them were electric)

I like the sun in these pictures very much and the rich black tones of the BMW 4 series! For that I combined a tiffen filter as well as a polarizer. (Pls sponsor me BMW) Having snapped some pictures of the cars it was now time for a snack. For that plan only a burger could be a wise decision, so we went all the way back to the end of the huge line.

After waiting approximately until my hair was grey I decided to check out the front where I luckily knew someone who'd I could join in line. We received our burger and went to a sitting bench where we could enjoy our meal. Shortly after another couple joined us and we had a nice meal and talked about the event and the cars!

"It's about the people, not only about the cars"

(Actually thats incorrect: Food 1st, People 2nd, Cars 3rd)

The cheeseburger was exquisite and whilst writing about it I get hungry just by imagining the taste of it...yummy!

As the event continued the sun went away and it seemed like it would rain but in the end it only drizzled a little bit. Nothing the less the DJ took all his equipment and brought it inside the hangar where later the tombola would be held.

The prices to win consisted of Carrera Bahnen, a stool by homecation.design a watch from Tudor and the first generation VW Lupo aka. the "Ferrari Lupo" which coincidentally won a good friend of Emil namely Fynn Maass who is also a renowned photographer. Mostly known through his work with artist and Porsche ambassador Hannah Schönwald.

The crowd was thrilled and amused about the tombola and Emil surely knows how to make it exciting for everyone. Especially the double coincidence that one good friend of Emil and the tombola guy himself won the main prices.

The evening continued with my girlfriend and me walking around and playing table tennis in the hall which was great fun. Just when we decided to leave I wanted to race in the Sim Racer but it seemed like the guys were closing it down, and the ones playing were completely invested into the game that they didnt notice me. When the moment seemed right I tried to talk to the owner of the SIM if I could play but he just said "No we are packing and leaving in a few minutes". That was very unfortunate for me but nevertheless the day was fun and we had a wonderful time in Hamburg.

And that pretty much wraps up the day at the Sundowner Event! I can truly say that I am a fan of the Sundowner concept and in general completely excited what the next years of Emils Garage may bring to the bodyshop.

Thank you and til next time! PN
